No Homeless Veterans campaign endorsed by Chief of Defence People
In another eminent endorsement for No Homeless Veterans, the Chief of Defence People at the Ministry of Defence has given a message of support for the campaign.
Lieutenant General Richard Nugee CVO CBE says he hopes the campaign spurs greater action to quickly house veterans who have ended up on the streets.
I am delighted to endorse the No Homeless Veterans campaign and I hope it is the catalyst for even greater action to ensure that the small number of veterans who experience homelessness after Service are assisted to move into suitable accommodation as quickly as possible.
The majority of serving personnel who transition from Her Majesty’s Armed Forces do so successfully and benefit from their time in the Forces. However, a small number slip through the net and we are delighted to work with the No Homeless Veterans campaign towards the realistic goal of eradicating veterans’ homelessness altogether.
Since 2016 Lieutenant General Richard Nugee has been Chief of Defence People at the Ministry of Defence, where he is responsible for the setting and assurance of people policies and processes in order to sustain the delivery of defence outputs through the right mix of sufficient, capable and motivated people. Prior to his appointment, Richard held a number of joint and single service army appointments, on operations and in staff appointments. Appointed MBE in June 1998, CBE in January 2012 and CVO in September 2016, he was awarded the US Legion of Merit for his services in Afghanistan in 2014.
